The committee has worked hard to arrange an itinerary that includes a representation of the best of our cattle both dairy and beef as well as some of Australia’s unique tourist attractions.

Day 01: Mon 23 Sep 2019 - ARRIVE ADELAIDE
Arrive into Adelaide and transfer to hotel for a 3- night stay. Depending on time of arrival, there may be the opportunity to spend some time exploring this beautiful, cultural, capital city. [D]
Day 02: Tue 24 Sep 2019 - ADELAIDE
This morning you commence the tour with a picturesque journey from Adelaide to the Yorke Peninsula to visit H G Thompson & Son’s, Bayview Shorthorns. You depart Bayview and retrace most of this morning’s journey. A welcome dinner this evening at The Carlton Club, Harndorf. Return to accommodation in Adelaide. [B/L/D]
Day 03: Wed 25 Sep 2019 - ADELAIDE
Today you will travel north of Adelaide to Gulnare to visit The Ashby Family’s, Bundaleer Shorthorn and North Ashrose Merino Stud. Your journey then takes you into the Barossa Valley, known as one of the world’s great wine and food regions, for a visit to the Yalumba Winery at Angaston. Yalumba is the oldest family owned winery in Australia, with the Yalumba dynasty beginning in 1849, when Samuel Smith and his son planted the first vineyards. The visit here will be a wine tasting and tour of the operational cooperage. Late afternoon return to Adelaide. Dinner at restaurant selling Shorthorn Beef. [B/L/D/])
Day 04: Thu 26 Sep 2019 - ADELAIDE to MOUNT GAMBIER
This morning you depart Adelaide heading southeast towards Mount Gambier. Today you will be visiting Andy & Sally Wither’s, Belmore Shorthorns at Naracoorte. Afternoon arrival into Mount Gambier – well known for its volcanic and limestone geographical features, most notably its Blue Lake. Check in to the hotel for a 2-night stay. [B/L/D]
Day 05: Fri 27 Sep 2019 - MOUNT GAMBIER
This morning you will visit the Blue Lake – a large monomictic crater lake located in a dormant volcanic maar. The lake has a striking change of colour from a colder steel grey, to a vibrant cobalt blue colour in December through to March. The tour will then take you to visit Neil & Helen Shepherd’s, Noola Beef Shorthorns located at Kongorong. Return late afternoon to Mount Gambier. [B/L/D]
Day 06: Sat 28 Sep 2019 - MOUNT GAMBIER to BALLARAT
Today you leave South Australia and cross the state border into Victoria, with the first visit of the day to the Brook Family’s, Eloora Shorthorns, located at Cavendish at the foothills of the Grampians mountain range. As your journey continues towards Ballarat, you visit Darryl & Ann Clark’s Deepdene Shorthorn Stud, located in the gently undulating volcanic country at Darlington. Afternoon arrival for a 1-night stay at Ballarat – a city retaining much of its rich gold heritage in the form of opulent buildings, fountains and tourist attractions. [B/L/D]
Day 07: Sun 29 Sep 2019 - BALLARAT to MELBOURNE
The tour takes us southeast to Melbourne today, and we will be attending the Royal Melbourne Show to observe the judging of the Shorthorn cattle. We will be hosted today for lunch in the Showgrounds by the Victorian Branch of the Shorthorn Society. Afternoon check in to your well-located accommodation for a 2-night stay. Dinner on own. [B/L]
Day 02: Mon 30 Sept 2019 - MELBOURNE
Today you will travel to the Leongatha region, at the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges in south Gippsland, which is a renowned dairy area. You will visit two Shorthorn dairies – firstly Peter Price’s Leongatha Shorthorn. Malcolm Douglas’ Tuerong Dairy Shorthorn cattle will also be on display. Next you visit Owen & Claire Hutchinson, Berrys Creek Shorthorn. Lunch will be at nearby Moss Vale Park – home of heritage trees. Boutique cheese factory (which the dairies supply) will also be on display. While in the area you will travel to nearby Phillip Island Nature Park to watch a parade of little penguins, as they make the journey from the ocean to their burrows on dusk. Return to Melbourne. Dinner on own. [B/L]
Day 03: Tue 01 Oct 2019 - MELBOURNE to GRIFFITH
This morning you depart Melbourne on your journey north into New South Wales, via the Murray River towns of Echuca and Moama. Today you will visit The Ham Family’s, Tataila Shorthorn Stud and the restored heritage shearing shed. Afternoon arrival into the town of Griffith – located in the productive Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area of the Riverina region. Check in to accommodation for a 1-night stay. [B/L/D]
Day 04: Wed 02 Oct 2019 - GRIFFITH to WAGGA WAGGA
This morning your first visit will be to JBS Australia’s Prime City Feedlot – a 35,000 head capacity, 6,200-hectare feedlot boasting state-of-the-art infrastructure and a farm with the capacity to supply all of the feedlot’s roughage requirements. This is where the JBS “Thousand Guineas” Shorthorn product is fed for distribution. The product will be tried, courtesy of JBS. You then travel on to visit The Spry Family’s, Sprys Shorthorn Stud at their “Ardlui” property, located near Wagga Wagga. Afternoon arrival into Wagga Wagga for registration to the Shorthorn World Congress Conference, which commences tomorrow. Check in to your accommodation for a 3-night stay. [B/L/D]

This morning you continue your tour travelling north east to Parkes – a town made famous by the Parkes Radio Telescope “The Dish”. Today you will visit the Francis & Son’s, Gobothery Shorthorns, near Forbes. On to Dubbo for a 3- night stay. [B/L/D]
Day 08: Sun 06 Oct 2019 - DUBBO
Today you will attend the Shorthorn Youth Expo – Heifer Show. This evening you will attend the Heifer Show Dinner. Accommodation in Dubbo again tonight. [B/L/D]
Day 09: Mon 07 Oct 2019 - DUBBO
Travel to Cumnock area to visit Lester and Sonya Job’s Moombi Shorthorn Stud. Next, you visit the nearby Royalla Shorthorns at Yeoval, owned by Neilson, Sue and Nicholas Job. This afternoon a visit to Howard & Margaret Williams’s, Marrington Shorthorn Stud. Dinner on own. [B/L]
Day 10: Tue 08 Oct 2019 - DUBBO to COONABARABRAN
Before you depart the Dubbo region this morning, you will make a visit to the Terry & Mary William’s, Terra Shorthorns. You continue travelling north today, as you make your journey on to Baradine, situated on the western edge of the Pilliga National Park, for a visit to Jason & Kylie Catts’s, Futurity Shorthorn Stud. The afternoon provides the ideal opportunity to make a visit to the area’s iconic Warrumbungle National Park – observe the Breadknife, towering 90 metres above the valley floor and other fascinating rock formations. This evening you will stay in nearby Coonabarabran. [B/L/D]
Day 11: Wed 09 Oct 2019 - COONABARABRAN to TAMWORTH
You leave Coonabarabran this morning and travel through The Pilliga to Narrabri for a visit to the Manchee Family’s, Yamburgan Shorthorn Stud. From the Narrabri region you travel northeast through the northern end of the Kaputar National Park to the Upper Horton Valley. It is here that you will visit the McDouall Family’s, Dunbeacon Shorthorn Stud. Here you will also have the opportunity to observe cattle from the Highrange Shorthorn Stud, which the Walker’s will have on display. Afternoon arrival into the city of Tamworth – the major regional centre in the New England region and well known for its annual Country Music Festival. Check in to your accommodation for a 1-night stay. [B/L/D]
Day 12: Thu 10 Oct 2019 - TAMWORTH to SYDNEY
This morning you will have the opportunity to visit the Calrossy Anglican School’s Shorthorn Stud. Departure from Tamworth provides the opportunity to observe the towns two big icons – the Golden Guitar and AELEC (the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre) on the city’s outskirts. Your southward journey takes you through the major Hunter Valley towns of Scone, Muswellbrook and Singleton, asy ou follow the New England Highway through to Sydney. Check in to your well-located city accommodation for a 1-night stay. The farewell dinner this evening is a cruise on the spectacular Sydney Harbour. [B/L/D]

Day 01: Fri 11 Oct 2019 - SYDNEY to LAUNCESTON
This morning transfer to Sydney Domestic Airport for flight to Launceston for Tasmanian Extension Tour. Flight needs to be arranged in conjunction to your International tickets – not included in the ground pricing). Arrive in Launceston and transfer to hotel for a 5-night stay. Opportunity for sightseeing tour. [B/L/D]
Day 02: Sat 12 Oct 2019 - LAUNCESTON
This morning you will have the opportunity to visit John Bell’s Sillwood Poll Shorthorn Stud. You will then travel on to the town of Sheffield to enjoy Tasmania’s famous Outdoor Art Gallery - amazing murals painted on the walls of most of the buildings throughout the town. Lunch will be in Sheffield. In the afternoon you will visit the Royston Poll Shorthorn Stud – owned by Reg and Rebecca Woodiwiss. Return in the afternoon to Launceston. [B/L/D]
Day 03: Sun 13 Oct 2019 - LAUNCESTON
This morning you will travel east of Launceston to visit a Lavender Farm. You journey then takes you to Dorset for a very special walk along the avenue of the Legerwood carved memorial trees – trees sculpted into World War One soldiers, with each of the 25 statues depicting the fallen men they were planted for in 1918. Your next visit will be to Walsh and Evans Northeastern Beef Shorthorn Stud. In the afternoon you will visit Mike Lefevre’s Dairy Shorthorns and the associated Pyengana Cheese Factory. Your return trip to Launceston will be a scenic journey through the north-eastern town of St Helens and via the picturesque Fingal Valley. [B/L/D]
Day 04: Mon 14 Oct 2019 - LAUNCESTON
Your first visit this morning will be to the Loane Family’s Dunroan Beef and Poll Shorthorn Studs. Your journey will then take you to the Hellyers Road Distillery located near Burnie. Founded by a group of dairy farmers, the distillery today produces whiskies of great quality which are exported to over 20 countries. With views of Emu Valley, enjoy lunch at the Distillery Café. After lunch you will visit a magnificent colour spectacle - the Table Cape Tulip Farm - for the opportunity to walk among hectares of tulips that will be at their best! Your final visit will be to the Robertson’s Dairy Shorthorns at their Mt Gnomon farm at Penguin. Return to Launceston for the final night. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner this evening. [B/L/D]
